With the generous support of the Vincentian Endowment Fund, CPIL will commemorate the 350th anniversaries of the lives of social justice pioneers St. Vincent de Paul and St. Louise de Maraillac with a symposium focusing on the crisis in criminal and immigrant detention.

The evening speaker and panel will introduce the areas of focus,
including detention conditions, privatization, racism, and vulnerable
populations. The focus areas will be discussed in greater detail the
following day with a panel discussion on each topic. The panels will bring together community activists and organizers, lawyers, professors and people of faith who are working on immigration or criminal detention and examine how the two issues overlap and what can be done to fix these broken systems.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. To register, please email sloughli@depaul.edu.
